The chalet is ideally placed to provide swift access to a number of ski stations, which then link to the Portes du Soleil network
To get the most out of this area for those flying from the UK , we would recommend hiring a car at the airport. Ski buses do operate throughout the area however, especially with children and long skis, we have never entertained them. Your own transport will allow you to explore the area and provide you with the freedom to choose the ski station and snow conditions that best suit your needs.
Any one resort will provide extensive skiing however the linked Portes du Soleil network provides limitless options. Circular routes for example enable you to depart in France, lunch in Switzerland and return to your start point without every having to ski the same run twice!
Extensive investment in chairlifts and snow cannons have ensured that even during the busiest periods queues are minimal and the lowest slopes always in the best possible condition.
Beginners are well catered for, not only in the larger linked resorts of Morzine, Les Gets, and Avoriaz but also in smaller quieter resorts such as Drouzin du Mont, St Jean d’Aulps and Abondance.
If skiing with a young family, for ease we would recommend a ski station where the car parking is adjacent to the piste such as Ardent, St Jean d’Aulps and mid station Les Gets. The inevitable loss of a glove/ski pas/hat/sunglasses is then far easier to retrieve.
The neighbouring ski region of the Grand Massif; Samoens, Flaine Le Carroz are 40 minutes by car whilst Megeve and Chamonix are approximately 90 minutes.
For cross-country skiers and ‘snow shoe’ walkers, there are extensive trails throughout the region
